About the nu-lok roofing system

The nu-lok roofing system replaces the traditional wooden battens with a far superior lightweight zincalume grid system to fix, proof and lock the tiles in place. The nu-lok roofing system, although designed in Australia, is now used in hugely diverse climates worldwide from the freezing temperatures of North America to the heat of Africa.

The patented nu-lok roofing system incorporates specially designed link channels containing a high grade 316 steel clip to secure the leading tile edge and locked in place between galvanised steel battens, making it a much stronger fit.

This link channel eliminates the need for the double lapping of slates. So that as water passes through the gaps between the tiles it is automatically routed onto the surface of the tiles below.

As a result, the nu-lok roofing system requires fewer tiles and less labour content than traditional roofing methods, delivering a surprisingly affordable roofing option. At 27kg per square metre, the unique nu-lok design weighs very little yet it can support the installer’s weight with ease.

Ease of tile replacement

The locking method of the nu-lok roofing system is so simple to change that roof tiles can be replaced in seconds without resorting to mechanical fixings or any tools.

Choice of nu-lok roof tiles

Ceramic Slate Tiles– The nu-lok roofing system is designed for ceramic slate (baked at 1200ºC) and strong enough for a roofer to walk on – guaranteed colourfast for 50 years.

Natural Slate Tiles– The nu-lok roofing system’s link channels are just adjusted to fit the variable width (250mm or 300mm, etc) when using Natural Slate tiles.
